The Sani-touch two-step disinfection system is growing fast!

2step cleaning process

Healthcare disinfection and surface hygiene protocols have evolved significantly over the years in a bid to better protect patients and prevent the spread of diseases.

It is impossible for any one disinfectant to target all microrganisms which means that effective disinfection relies on an understanding of pathogens and a robust risk assessment. Selecting the right antimicrobial agent, with the appropriate type and concentration of the active ingredient with the correct contact time, is paramount.

Instruments and medical devices are typically more challenging than flat surfaces to disinfect as only areas in direct contact with the disinfectant are sanitised. Another fact that is often forgotten is that you can’t disinfect without first cleaning. Dirt hinders disinfection by interacting with the microbicide, protecting microorganisms. Surface material characteristics including porosity also affect microorganism survival. This means that effective cleaning, particularly where visibly soiled areas are concerned, is crucial for ensuring more effective disinfection.

Sani-touch introduced a two-step wipe system to address this issue and ensure a more effective approach to surface hygiene. This system has enjoyed wide adoption in the medical industry providing consistent infection control and peace of mind.

Key to the efficacy of the system is the fact that cleaning precedes disinfection. The first step in the process includes a detergent wipe with an abrasive texture to ensure optimal dirt removal quickly and efficiently. The second step includes a pre-saturated disinfectant wipe. The Sani-touch system now provides the option of five different disinfecting wipes:

sporicidal_5L

Multi-use 2

(Quaternary ammonium compound – also known as QAC – combination):
A low-level disinfection ideal for general areas and small, non-invasive medical devices.

medi-wipes_5L_tall

Medi-wipe 2

(80% ethanol):
Intermediate disinfection for use between cleans and for patient care. Ethanol is an effective bactericidal agent against vegetative mycobacteria.

Actirite_5L

Actirite 2

(1000ppm chlorine):
Intermediate disinfection for fluid and blood spills and general room surfaces. Less corrosive than bleach, this wipe uses NaDCC activated in a solution to maintain 1000ppm chlorine at pH6-7, ensuring maximum effectiveness.

Perkettes_Canister_2L

Perkettes 2

(hydrogen peroxide with silver):
High-level disinfection to protect against multi-drug resistant bacteria such as Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureas (MRSA). Suitable for non-porous surfaces and to disinfect medical devices.

Actispore_Canister_2L

Actispore 2 (Peracetic acid):

High-level disinfection for terminal decontamination against microbial resistant spores such as C. diff and C.Aureus. Five-minute contact time required.

MEDI-TOUCH – 1ST Clean 2nd Disinfect

The Sanitouch two-step system allows for the right antimicrobial product to be used in order to combat the organisms threatening that particular situation or environment, avoiding possible microbial resistance to frequently used germicides.

Addressing key disinfection challenges, its pre-mixed solutions ensure correct concentrations and durable wipe materials to maximize fluid transfer and contact time.

The Sani-touch 1st Clean, 2nd Disinfect system: delivering effective hygiene precisely when and where needed.
